If you want to capture the true heart and soul of Paris, Montmartre is where I always say, “Let’s go!” It’s an enchanting neighborhood that feels like a village suspended in time, full of cobblestone streets, colorful cafés, and hidden corners that whisper stories of artists, lovers, and dreamers.
As a Paris photographer who’s lived here for years, it’s my favourite place to shoot portraits in Paris, perfect for romantic photos, solo traveler sessions, or even surprise proposals, and I want to take you on a stroll through some of my favourite Montmartre spots that make every photo session feel like a dreamy Parisian love story.
1. Rue de l’Abreuvoir, A Fairytale Street
This street is pure magic. With ivy climbing up old stone walls and the famous pink house, La Maison Rose, at the corner, it’s like stepping into a storybook. Morning light filters softly through the leaves, casting a warm glow that’s perfect for romantic, whimsical, candid Paris portraits. Walking here feels like you’re in your own little world, away from the city hustle.
2. Steps of Sacré-Cœur, Panorama with a Heart
The grand staircase leading up to the Sacré-Cœur Basilica offers panoramic views of Paris, and the light here at sunrise is simply breathtaking. It’s quiet, golden, and full of emotion. We can capture wide shots of you gazing over the city or playful moments as you relax on the steps, soaking in the beauty and energy of this artistic hub. This spot works beautifully for couple photography, engagement photos, or even cinematic film stills.
3. Rue du Chevalier de la Barre, A Secret Parisian Hideaway
One of my absolute favorites, this tucked-away street is charming and intimate, with old-world textures. It’s a quiet spot that lets your personality shine through with effortless, natural light and authentic Parisian charm. It's ideal for stylised Paris photos that feel natural and relaxed, especially for those looking for a hidden gem of a backdrop.
4. Place du Tertre, Where Art Lives
If you want a lively, colorful vibe, Place du Tertre is the heart of Montmartre’s art scene. It’s full of energy and joy, perfect for capturing candid laughter and the playful spirit of Parisian street life. This location is perfect for romantic photos in Paris.
